Bloomz treats a Childcare Room as a real group type, not a repurposed classroom: ratio enforcement, CDC-schedule immunization tracking, and a licensing-ready audit trail come with it automatically. This guide sets up your rooms once, then covers the handful of things that come up on a state visit or a subsidy renewal.

Set rooms up as Childcare Rooms, not classes — the ratio and immunization behavior only turns on for the real group type.

Create each room as a Childcare Room5 min

Picking "Childcare Room" instead of a plain class is what turns on ratio enforcement, the minimal Present/Absent/Tardy attendance codes, and CDC-schedule immunization tracking for that group. A room created as a plain class won't get any of it.

Set your required staff-to-child ratio and room capacity5 min

Set this per room under Attendance Settings — it's what the system checks against every check-in and check-out.

Don’t see this? Ratio enforcement only fires once this is set; an unset room silently accepts any headcount.
Decide who gets the out-of-ratio alert3 min

Admins, teachers and School Office staff for the room can all receive it — decide who's actually looking at their phone during drop-off and pickup.

Immunization schedule follows CDC by default

Childcare Rooms track against the CDC schedule; K-12 classes track against your state's own schedule instead. If your state requires something stricter than CDC for licensed centers specifically, check with support before your first inspection, not during one.

Exemptions are their own status, not "up to date"

A medical, religious, or philosophical exemption shows separately with its own expiry — it never gets silently folded into a compliant count, which is exactly the distinction an inspector will check.
