Bloomz for teachers

Reach every family — including the ones who don't speak English or check email.

Bloomz replaces the newsletter, the sign-up sheet, the reminder text, and the envelope of cash in your desk drawer. This guide gets your class set up, then shows you the handful of things you will do every week.

Start here

Set the class up once, at the start of the year.

If your school imported the roster, your classes are already there. If not, you can create one.

Invite families5 min

Share a join code or QR, or send invitations directly.

Don’t see this? Importing families is not the same as inviting them — imported members have not been asked to join yet, and will not see anything until they do.
Set your notification preferences2 min

Decide now how you want to hear about replies, or your evenings will decide for you.

Check what your school has turned on

Attendance, payments, behavior, hall passes and enrollment are each switched on by a school administrator. If something in this guide is missing for you, that is usually why — it is not a bug, and your admin can turn it on.

Your first week

Add photos or a file. Families see it in their language automatically.

Posts cannot be unsent

Once a post goes out it cannot be recalled, and families may already have had the notification. Check the class it is going to before you send — that is the mistake people actually make.

Send a private message to one family2 min

Direct messages are separate from the class feed and are not visible to other families.

Send the same message individually to everyone3 min

Each family gets it as a private message from you, and replies come back to you alone — useful for anything you do not want turning into a group thread.

When you need to

Run a sign-up or volunteer slot list
Set up parent-teacher conferences

Open your available times and let families pick. Note if a family requests an interpreter.

Collect money from families

Create a payment request for a trip or supplies. Families pay in the app; you can also record cash or a check you were handed.

Don’t see this? Requires Payments, and your school may cap the amount you can request or require an administrator to approve it first.
Two screens are both called 'Record cash/check'

One records against a family's tuition balance, the other against a payment request you created. They post to different ledgers, so start from the request you are reconciling, not from search.

Take attendance
Recognize behavior or award points
Don’t see this? Requires your school to have behavior features switched on.
