Plain Staff can check students in and out and run kiosks, but can't change attendance or ratio settings. School Office staff can do both — ask your admin to set this specifically if dismissal or hall pass settings look locked to you.
These live under More rather than a dedicated front-desk tab — worth pinning whichever one you use most to your toolbar so it's one tap instead of a menu dive.
Front Desk, Dismissal Coordinator, Nurse, Counselor, Referral Admin and Alert Sender are granted individually on top of your role, and each unlocks a specific module — Front Desk for Visitor Management, Dismissal Coordinator for the Extended Day board, Nurse for the Clinic. If one of those feels missing, ask your admin to check Staff Roles rather than assuming it's tied to your main role.
Every day
Confirm arrivals, verify a pickup by QR, PAC code, or visual check, and handle an office override when something doesn't match.
A one-day change doesn't touch the family's standing weekly pickup plan — it only affects today.
Issue from the room roster, and confirm arrival to close it out — an open pass with no arrival is exactly what a hall pass report flags.
Set a device into kiosk mode for the day, and know the exit password flow so you're not locked out of your own front desk.
When you need to
One action closes every open pass building-wide — know where this is before the day you need it, not during.
Cap how many passes or how long, or exempt a specific student from the school's default limits.
Locking prevents someone from backing out of kiosk mode without the exit password — worth doing on any device that sits in a public hallway.
Office staff doesn't include Payments access on its own. If you also handle billing, ask your admin to add the Billing Staff role specifically — it unlocks invoices, plans, and payers without giving you messaging or attendance access either.
