Stop parents from messaging each other

The setting is called Parent-Parent communication. There is no separate "Messaging" menu in Settings. Where you find it depends on the level you manage.
For your whole district or organization (recommended)
- Open your district (or top-level organization) and select the gear (Settings) at the end of the toolbar.
- Select Permissions.
- Under Parent Permissions, find Parent-Parent communication.
- Turn it off for the district and for its schools and classes, and turn on the lock so it can't be turned back on lower down.
- Select Save.
Every school, center, class and room below then has parent-to-parent messaging off.
For one class or room
- Open the class or room and select the gear (Settings).
- Select Features.
- Turn off Parent-Parent communication and select Save.
If the switch can't be changed, your district has locked it. Ask your district admin.
Good to know
- A school's or center's own Permissions page doesn't show this setting. Set it at the district level, or class by class.
- Parents can still message teachers and staff. This only stops parents messaging other parents.
- Family Messaging is a different feature (students and their own guardians). It is under Settings → Features and is off by default.
