Parent FAQs: messages, posts and notifications
How to control what Bloomz sends you and what happens to what you send.
How do I turn off or change which notifications I get?
Every notification type — push, email, SMS — can be turned on or off separately from your Account settings, and you can also set quiet hours so nothing pings your phone overnight. See Choose which notifications you receive for the full list of channels and what each one covers.
Can I get posts and messages translated into my own language?
Yes — set your Preferred Content Language once and everything written in Bloomz (posts, messages, announcements, and the notifications about them) arrives translated for you automatically, even when the sender wrote in a different language. See Get posts and messages translated into your language for how to set it, and what to do if your school has locked it to your student information system.
Is that the same setting that changes Bloomz's own menus and buttons?
No — that's a separate setting, Preferred App Language, and it only changes what Bloomz itself says, not what other people write. See Change the language Bloomz shows you for that one; the two settings don't turn each other on.
Who actually receives a message I send in Bloomz?
Only the specific person or people you pick when you start the message — there is no general "Bloomz Support" inbox inside the app that a message can land in by mistake. See Message a parent, a student or a colleague for how the recipient picker works if a message didn't seem to reach the right person.
Can I reply to or react to a post my child's teacher shared?
Yes, where the teacher has left reactions and replies open on that post — your reaction and any reply are visible to the teacher and, depending on the post's settings, to other recipients too. See React and reply to posts for how to use either.
Can I make sure urgent notices always reach me, even with notifications off?
Yes — set a Critical Contact, a channel (like a phone number) that Bloomz still uses for time-sensitive notices such as an early dismissal, even if you've turned other notifications down. See Set a Critical Contact so urgent notices always reach you for how to set one.
